Siobhan has been an amazing support, in preparation and running through MY bundle and giving helpful tips has been invaluable. The difference of a McKenzie friend has been different to a solicitor - which generally embarked upon creating more paid work - this wasn't the case for me by using a McKenzie friend as I can "call the shots" / control the money etc. Most court processes when self representing are exhausting - and I was exhausted. I honestly found Jon to be extremely helpful. He has helped to prepare my response statement as well as my court bundle, which my barrister said were both well prepared. Jon is very thorough and methodical. I would recommend him to anyone who needs some support from getting started, to finalising their documents.

Don't panic-Jon is super helpful. Have a notepad and pen with you all the time or make notes on your phone. Thoughts and ideas will come out of the blue-writing things down will help you remember, then organise those points in an email before sending them. This will help you to get your points across-and don't send your email as soon as you write it. Have a break and then re-read it. Remember that you know what you are thinking and what happened-you need to write it so that a 3rd party who wasn't present can understand exactly what it is that you're trying to say.

Nb-send him the documents directly from docx/Word if you're using Apple, its loads easier. As these files can be large I also recommend checking with your email provider so that you can send large files, or use something like OneDrive/GoogleDrive for example. You may find the documents you need to send will be larger, especially if you need to enclose pictures, audio or video.

Jon was dependable from start to finish and always responded in a timely manner. I would definitely ask him for his help in the future should I ever find myself needing to.

'll 'try' to keep this short, but I could honestly write pages about my recent experience and how excellent Georgina has been throughout my child custoday case. She stepped up in my very urgent hour of need, and spent hours and hours helping me create a detailed position statement and shared her detailed understanding of court proceedings etc in relation to an urgent hearing, covertly and maliciously sprung upon me with just five days notice. I was in complete shock during that point in time, and without Georginas expertise and clear concise help and guidance I would have been in a whole world of hurt. From the 1st interaction to the very end Georgina was always calm/ informative/ engaged/ supportive/ flexible and very knowledgeable. I walked into the first hearing prepared and feeling much more in control just a few days later. Seven months and three hearings later - the proceedings are all over and the final order is exactly what I'd asked for, word for word almost.

After a small argument with my ex, she decided to ultimately win by dragging me to court with a stack of unimaginable false allegations. I got a solicitor, thinking I’d fight her to the end, but soon realised the solicitor’s game. They were planning as much complication as possible. In court it was like a jolly day out at the sports club, that I was paying for. I came to the McKenzie Friends website and read some of Dans testimonials. I had to give it a try, and I was not disappointed. Dan told me more in his first phone call than my solicitor did in 3 months. Dan was invaluable with the support he offered, through his extensive knowledge and understanding of the family court he helped me in putting across my position to the court and also to keep me child focused through it all, he took the time to understand what had happened so far and what to expect next and how to prepare for everything that would happen at the final hearing.
